On the evening of December 15th we had three little blessings join the Bluebonnet Biewers® Family.
Blossom went into labor around 8:30pm and delivered
Chandler a
Biewer Yorkshire Terrier male at 9pm sharp! At first I thought he wasn't moving and Blossom looked puzzled as well. Suddenly she began moving him around with her nose and her paws in a rolling motion. She was licking him constantly clearing away all of embryonic sac and then finally he began to move. I found it difficult to hold back my excitement for them. He quickly learned to nestle close and began nursing.
Blossom looked up at me as if proud of her handsom bustling baby boy as well as her great birthing skills. Her little eyes always get a twinkle when she knows she has amazed me. Panting while nursing she began contracting again. She circled around in her birthing house so much so that I worried about her hurting Chandler in the process. But she did not hurt him. In fact she gracefully moved about Chandler as if it were a dance. And then unsuspectingly she gave birth to
Canyon a
Golddust Yorkshire Terrier male at 9:45pm. As soon as he was out Blossom began cleaning him up. He too did not move at first. And I was scared that he was not alive but Blossom looked at me as if to comfort me an let me know that everything was just fine. When Canyon started moving Blossom carefully picked him up with her mouth and placed him right next to Chandler. She continued to clean them both up while they nursed all the while she was having contractions for her 3rd and last puppy. Around 10:30pm Blossom gave birth to
Charlotte a
Biewer Yorkshire Terrier female! Charlotte was moving inside of her sac and Miss Blossom hurried get her out. She licked her mouth right away. It was funny to see
Blossom with Charlotte wiggling around cause it reminded me of myself changing my wiggly little Daughter when she was a newborn. So by 11pm all was calm and right as rain in Blossom's birthing house. I could not have been more proud of her. She is such a good mother. They all nursed very well and look healthy on all accounts. On Friday we took them to get their dew claws removed and they were also checked out by the Vet. We went to a
Rose-Rich Veterinary Clinic which is closer to us due to the time contraints of the Holiday Season. The doctor they saw asked to dock their tails. I had the awesome opportunity to explain to this Vet what a unique breed he was looking at and why we do not dock these Yorkshire Terriers Tails. Biewer, Biro and Golddust Yorkshire Terrier Breeds were developed in Germany where it is against the law to dock tails or crop ears of any Dog Breeds. And thus we do not dock their tails. There is not a moment that goes by that I am not thankful for having discovered the Biewer, Biro and Golddust dogs! They definitely give our family a sense of home. Please stay tuned for more stories and photos of Blossom's C litter and their adventures!
