Mourning Morning

Yesterday morning Bellaire went into premature labor. She had a fairly easy delivery of her three puppies. The first puppy was still born. Bellaire cleaned this large pup up and as he lay there limp we were saddened by how quickly nature moves forward. He was beautiful with perfect symmetry in the face mostly white with three black spots on his saddle. The second puppy was noticeably still born. He was small and was also beautiful but half the size of the first. He was mostly black on his entire saddle and black in the face with a white line going up the center of his forehead. The third puppy was a tiny female. She was born alive with a hernia. Because of this hernia and the fact that she was premature we knew that it wouldn't be long before she too would pass the vail. Never the less we took her and Bella to the Vet. The Doctor stitched her up and told us that she had a very slim chance of making it. He also told us that he needed to run some test to find out the cause of this litters complications. So now we wait to see if the reason for this litters death will mean that Blossoms litter is also doomed for the same fate. The little girl that was so brave as to survive her brothers yesterday died in my arms in the middle of the night. Bellaire gave out haunting cries throughout the night. We are all mourning their loss this morning and weary about the future of Blossoms litter.
